Mount Batten beach has been closed to protect the public after recent tests showed asbestos fibres in sand samples at potentially hazardous levels.
Plymouth City Council have also restricted access to sandy areas of the foreshore near the slipways and pontoon following preliminary results of sand sampling, so are asking users to stay off these areas. The concrete slipways and pontoon are safe to use.
Please note that the Centre remains open and there is no risk to the safety of users of the slipways, pontoon and the Centre.
