Boat Park member responsibilities
We accept no liability for loss or damage to your property whilst on our premises – boat park members are strongly encouraged to insure their property. Vessels should only be stored inside a member’s allocated boat parking bay(s) or rack space and stored in a manner that does not inhibit access to another member’s storage and/or potentially cause damage to another member’s property. Boats to be parked in allocated bays only – with a maximum of one vessel per bay. Tie down points are provided for securing vessels from theft and during high winds – loose items must be secured or removed.
Members are responsible for securing shared access gates after use – members are provided with combination padlock codes for these gates and members should not wilfully disclose these codes. Access routes to storage locations and fire exits should be always kept clear. When accessing storage compounds with a vehicle the speed limit is walking pace. Compound C is the only area in which motorised vessels are allowed to be stored. Vehicles are not allowed to access the eastern slipway through the main boat park in front of the Centre without prior permission of the Centre management.
We reserve the right to clamp trailers/ vessels of unauthorised users. The Mount Batten Centre follows guidance from the Royal Yachting Association for administering abandoned or unauthorised vessels. The owner has 28 days to respond to these communications. If after this 28-day period has elapsed with no further communication from the owner the vessel will be considered abandoned on private property and secured by the Mount Batten Centre. Members should be aware that after a further 28-day period from when the vessel has initially been moved by The Mount Batten Centre, as stated above, we are legally entitled to sell or dispose of the vessel/trailer and any accompanying equipment in the space.
