MBC redevelopment update – Monday 14th October 2024

As you may be aware, the Mount Batten Centre is one of four key gateways to Plymouth Sound National Marine Park (PSNMP) – the UK’s first marine based National Park. Plymouth Sound National Marine Park is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

As part of the PSNMP Horizons project there are large-scale redevelopment programmes scheduled to take place at the Centre. The full scope of these works includes a new café and changing room facilities, and pontoon works (not part of the Winter 24/25 works schedule).

The below sets out the first steps in the redevelopment process as we await confirmation of the final tender process and timelines:

1. From today, Monday 14th October, the Centre’s café and accommodation will close and will reopen again next year (date tbc).
2. The Centre will provide a manned reception service from 0900 – 1800 daily, and from the 27th October in accordance with daylight saving time opening hours will be reduced to 0900 – 1700 daily. Access for members, clubs and affiliates will remain for those wishing to access reception services, welfare facilities and changing rooms within the main building. Access to car parks, boat storage and storage facilities outside the main building will remain.
3. Between the 14th October – 30th November these access processes will be in place.
4. On or near to the 30th November the next steps in the process for accessing the Centre during the redevelopment period will be communicated.

We must emphasise that we intend to maintain access to key Centre facilities throughout the redevelopment process – but please do consider we do not have the full information yet and this will be released at the end of November.

We are very grateful for your continued support during this exciting time.
