We are looking forward to hosting the CPGA Junior International Gig Rowing Championships and National County Championships this weekend (Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th October).
With an event of this scale, comes additional parking considerations, and restrictions, and we want to ensure that all of our visitors including crew and spectators are aware of these, as well as letting our residential neighbours, fellow local businesses and visitors to the Mount Batten peninsula know what we’re doing to lessen any extra vehicular impact on the peninsula this weekend:
We have:
- sent very specific limited parking instructions to all participants of this weekend’s event – we have asked them to consider using public transport where possible, and where this isn’t viable to car share with crews/teams/families/guardians
- ensured there is additional volunteer car parking marshalls on-site here at the Centre
- engaged with Plymouth City Council’s Parking Services department who will be on the ground to enforce parking notices
- reiterated that at no point should an emergency vehicle or public transport not be able to access the peninsula.
We are very lucky to be based on the Mount Batten peninsula and share the space with local residents and other local businesses, but appreciate some events at the Centre do have an impact; and, whilst inconsiderate/illegal parking outside of the Centre’s site boundary is out of our control, we are doing all we can to mitigate these instances ahead of this weekend’s event.
